First Birthday Family Session
This family reached out to schedule family photos as their little guy was approaching his first birthday. They chose a Marin location where they spend a lot of time as a family, and it ended up being absolutely perfect!
This almost one year old came with some seriously adorable accessories. His hats were so cute! I always aim to capture the tiny details. I love the tiny hand grasping a parent's finger. Those tiny little hands get bigger so quickly.
Family photo sessions typically run anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. With younger kids, they are often on the shorter side, but I find that not putting a time limit on the sessions makes everyone more relaxed. There's no pressure to get the shot. If a kid needs a snack or a moment to themselves, we can easily accommodate without having to worry about running out of time.
Sometimes an unexpected angle ends up being my favorites. There's a playfulness about it that I love. If you're out and about on the trails of Marin County and see someone laying on the ground with a camera, don't worry. It's probably just me photographing families from weird angles! Ha!
I loved working with this family, and I'm wishing this little guy a very happy first birthday and another good (hopefully pandemic free) year ahead.
This was a hybrid session meaning I shot it on both film (Kodak Portra400) and digital. You can take a peek at another outdoor family photography session on the blog here or hop over to Instagram to see more recent work. Don't forget to say hi while you're there.
